Vance VanDoren is president of VanDoren Industries, Inc. in West Lafayette, Indiana. VDI's research division tracks developments in the automation system integration market and provides data for Control Engineering's annual Guide to Automation System Integrators. Dr. VanDoren also provides consulting services for advanced control of continuous processes. His specialty is multivariable adaptive control techniques. As a consulting editor with Control Engineering magazine, Dr. VanDoren handles editorial assignments in process control, advanced process control, and system integration. He has served on the Technical Advisory Board for the Industrial Computing Society and contributes questions to the Professional Engineering exam in Process Controls. He is currently editing a handbook entitled 'Techniques for Adaptive Control.' He earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University.
