James M. Spiegelman is responsible for engaging both internal and external audiences in Aspen Institute activities and serves as the spokesman. He manages relations with the public and news media and provides strategic communications counsel to all Institute programs. Mr. Spiegelman also oversees both the Aspen Roundtable Series and the Aspen Book Series. He is director of research and programs in the Center for International Business and Trade at Georgetown University. Mr. Spiegelman co-authored "Impediments to US-Arab Economic Relations: Progress in the Midst of Crisis".[CR-LF][CR-LF]He previously was a consulting editor at BusinessWeek magazine, where he designed and managed global conferences on myriad economic, political and business topics. Mr. Spiegelman has also been chief-of-staff to the president of the United Nations Association of the USA, analyst for a global hedge fund, special assistant to the financier/philanthropist George Soros, deputy policy director for the 1992 Presidential campaign of then-US Senator Bob Kerrey, research/program director at Georgetown University's School of Business and a fellowship in foreign affairs for the Congressional Research Service at the Library of Congress. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Spiegelman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980.
