James Smith is executive editor of The Bristol Press and The Herald of New Britain. He was previously the editor of the Connecticut Post. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He spent 14 years as executive editor at the Record-Journal in Meriden and has served as managing editor of The News-Times in Danbury. Mr. Smith was city editor and sports editor at The Hartford Courant from 1979 to 1984. He has been a managing editor at The Day in New London and The Register-Citizen in Torrington.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Smith has been a Pulitzer Prize juror and is a two-time winner of the First-Amendment Award from the Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
