Wendy Rieger is an anchor/reporter for News 4 at WRC-TV. She joined WRC-TV in 1988 as a general assignment reporter and began anchoring weekend newscasts in 1996.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Rieger started at WAMU-FM Radio as a writer and worked her way up to reporter, and eventually the local host of "Morning Edition". She later did newscasts for the NPR network and was an anchor-reporter for WTOP-AM Radio. Rieger later switched to television working for CNN's Washington D.C. bureau. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Rieger earned three Emmy Awards for news writing and feature reporting, including a special report on Vietnam, 20 years after the war that was shot entirely on home video. [CR-LF][CR-LF]She serves on the Advisory Board of the Sigma Capital Challenge to raise money for the Special Olympics, and is on the Advisory Board for the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. In addition, Rieger is a regular participant in D.C. AIDS Ride. [CR-LF][CR-LF]A native of Norfolk, Va., Rieger majored in broadcast journalism at American University in Washington, D.C.
