Chris Proffitt is the eyewitness news reporter for WTHR-TV. He joined WTHR in June 1990. He has been a regular contributor to NBC's Cable Business Channel, CNBC. Prior to coming to Channel 13, he was a weather anchor at WHBF-TV, a CBS affiliate in the Quad cities. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Proffitt has received many awards including, first place in the 1995 National Headliner Award, winner of the 1995-1996 National Media Owl Awards, first place feature for the RTNDA, the Edward R. Murrow Award, two-time first place winner of the Society of Professional Journalists, and several first place Associated Press awards. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Proffitt is married and has one daughter. He graduated form Indiana University in 1982 with a bachelor of science degree in journalism and political science.
