Lynn Melling joined WHO-TV in July of 2005 to anchor the weekend evening newscasts and report during the week. She also anchors Channel 13 News at 9 on Fox 17. It is central Iowa's only 9 p.m. newscast, airing on KDSM-TV. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Previously, she worked at KTUU-TV in Anchorage, Alaska. She was a reporter at WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Md. and interned at WCCO-TV, KSTP-TV and WMNN news radio in Minneapolis. [CR-LF][CR-LF]She has earned a first place SPJ Pacific Northwest Excellence in Journalism award for an investigative series on natural gas development. She has also won first place awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association and the Alaska Press Club. [CR-LF][CR-LF]With several degrees, she graduated from University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., where she studied broadcast journalism, international studies and Spanish. She spent her junior year of college studying in Spain and traveling through Europe.[CR-LF][CR-LF]A native of Minnesota, she lives in Des Moines with her husband. Together, they own a video production company, and in her spare time, she loves to run, garden, read a good book and snuggle up with their dog, Paxson.
