Micah Matere first joined WGN-TV News as a morning news anchor and medical reporter. Previously, she worked for KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a general assignment reporter. She began her career in broadcasting for WBEZ-FM radio in Chicago, where she was a producer and reporter. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Ms.Materre taught radio production for Columbia College in Chicago and has hosted the local UNCF telethon in Detroit. She has also been featured in several national publications, including New York Times Magazine, Glamour Magazine and locally, Today's Chicago Woman. She has also been featured in magazines such as Ebony and Good Housekeeping. In 1991, Micah Materre won an Emmy Award for a news story on a hostage situation in Pontiac, Mich., and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters honored her for a mini documentary news story on Malcolm X. She received her BA in Journalism from Drake University.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Micah Materre serves as Commentator, Mistress of Ceremonies, and Honorary Chairperson to several community and civic organizations across Chicago and is a member of a national charitable organization.
