Carolyn Long anchors the KCTV5 News at noon and 4 p.m. She also serves as the "Take 5 for Life" health reporter. In addition, she anchors at the Event News Network.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Long is interested in medical stories that she can localize for the Kansas City area. She prefers "short and sweet" pitches via e-mail. Deadlines can range anywhere from a week to a day, depending on the level of reporting required for a specific story. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Long joined the station in August 1996 as a general assignment reporter. Prior to that, she was a radio news anchor in Connecticut, where she played a role in organizing the 1995 International Special Olympics. She also worked with United Way and the Harvesters program. She holds a B.A. in communications with a minor in political journalism from Kent State University. In her spare time, Long enjoys water and snow skiing, and acting.
