Kelly Trom is a Senior Account Manager based in Portland, Oregon, United States

I am a graduate of the journalism program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. In my time there, I wrote for Mustang News (the student-run campus newspaper.) I worked in the newsroom for three years and enjoyed the hands-on experience I received. I loved writing about the culture of San Luis Obispo, be it the music scene, classical arts, technology, etc.

I’ve always been captivated by stories. From begging my Mom to read just one more story before bedtime to majoring in journalism at Cal Poly, stories (both fiction and true) have always been a part of my life.

After a three-year stint at my college newspaper (shout-out to Mustang News!), I realized that while journalism wasn’t my calling there was another related field that was. That’s right, the often misunderstood public relations.

As I’ve spent time gaining professional experience at the Silicon Valley PR firm Hoffman Agency, I’ve come to believe there’s always a story to tell no matter the product. From semiconductors to drones, it just takes some digging, creative drive, and a touch of elbow grease.

I love learning about how the world works, what different tech companies do, and how I can be a part of the story.
