Hi there! I'm Kelly Nicole Barahona, a New York City lady in her mid-20s with a whimsical written voice.

Animation has a soul (or an "anima" for the 1/2 Italian like me). Writing about happenings in the animation world -- films to screenings to panels -- is a passion of mine.

I also volunteer my time in the community in adult education and provide my talents in the grant writing/research and non-profit fields.

Honestly though, if it involves writing, I'm always willing to put in the work to make the piece as strong as can be.

If one word is enough to attempt to describe me, "eclectic" would be a good place to start.

For my day job, I help with administrative duties for my non-profit job. From getting the name tags in order for the international business trips, to making sure every last donation from Giving Tuesday is counted, to crafting interesting social media posts, to sending registration lists and virtual Zoom reminders, I wear a lot of hats at my job.

In the past, I volunteered for places such as an ESL/Spanish night school for adults, a public library, and a school for children with special needs. For 12 months from 2020 to 2021, I also assisted the grant writing department at A Precious Child, and I these days I occasionally write content for sites such as Animation Nights New York and Animation for Adults.

My life is all about doing things that make me feel happy and fulfilled. A big part of fulfillment is making sure the work I do — be it at my full-time job, through volunteering, or via my hobbies — is meaningful and considerate. I can go the extra mile and back again, and so long I see good in what I do I'll continue to do so. No matter what I do, in addition to my hard skills, I bring a sense of commitment and desire to grow as a person.
