Dr. Jorgensen received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University in 1975. He was on the faculty of Purdue University during 1975-1990, and then took his current position as Whitehead Professor of Chemistry at Yale University. Dr. Jorgensen has received the ACS Award for Computers in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Research, an Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award, and the Annual Medal of the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Sciences. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The main theme of his research is the development and application of theoretical methods to solve problems concerning structure and reactivity for organic and biomolecular systems.
