Diana Hwang is the Research Manager for the Mobile Consumer Metrics and Mobile Enterprise Metrics programs. She rejoins IDC as the primary analyst for these services, focused on the evolving trends of mobile consumers and mobile workers. These programs investigate trends among consumer and enterprise users of mobile devices and wireless voice and data services to aid clients with pinpointing the key metrics surrounding mobile users' behavior. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Hwang has over 15 years experience in the technology industry. She started her career at IDC in 1996 covering mobile devices. Her work in the smart handheld device program analyzing technologies and markets surrounding PDAs, smart phones, mobile devices, high-end organizers, pen tablets, and pen notepads propelled IDC to the forefront of the emerging field of SHDs. A noted expert in her field, Hwang has been frequently quoted in business publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Investor's Business Daily, and other online and print publications. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Prior to rejoining IDC, Hwang was the director of strategic intelligence at start-up, Ucentric Systems, a home networking software company. In that capacity she launched the market research and analyst relations program for the company before becoming a self-employed market consultant. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Before IDC, Hwang covered the computer industry as a trade journalist for seven years. In her last position, she was a senior editor at Computer Reseller News writing about the pen, organizer, and handheld markets. In 1993 Hwang's work was recognized in the prestigious Computer Press Awards in the Best News Story for Computer Publication category. Hwang also spent time as a staff writer for Digital News, a bi-weekly computer trade publication that covered the VAX industry. Her articles included case studies, profiles and new product stories on the use of VAX technology in commercial and specialized applications.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Hwang holds a B.S. in Biology from Tufts University and an M.S. in Science Journalism from Boston University.
