Judy Hsu is currently an anchor for ABC 7 News This Morning on WLS-TV in Chicago. She co-anchors the ABC 7 morning news with Hosea Sanders. Hsu joined ABC 7 in April 2001. She also previously reported for ABC 7's daily newscasts and hosted a parenting segment on the morning show called "Connect with Kids." [CR-LF][CR-LF]Before joining the ABC 7 news team, Hsu anchored the 4 p.m. weekday newscasts at KFMB-TV in San Diego, Calif., a position she held from 1996 to 2001. Hsu also anchored afternoon news updates for KFMB-AM 760 in San Diego, having previously served as KFMB-TV's weekend anchor from 1995 to 1996 and its general assignment reporter from 1994 to 1995. Hsu's first job in broadcasting was at WPGU-FM 107.1 and WCIA-TV in Champaign, Ill., from 1993 to 1994. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Hsu's reporting and anchoring has garnered several Emmy nominations. Her parenting segment, "Connect with Kids," was nominated for Outstanding Achievement for Information Programming. She was also nominated for Individual Excellence on Camera for News Anchor in 2003. That same year, she received an Emmy for her contributions to the "Water Main Break Spot Coverage." While at KFMB-TV in San Diego, Hsu was also recognized with an Emmy for outstanding achievement for specialty reporting. She won three San Diego Press Club Awards for Best News Story, Best Series, and Best Show and was chosen as one of the "San Diego Women Who Mean Business" by the San Diego Business Journal. She received her Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1992, having been also active in theater, dance, and the performing arts. Hsu is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association and the National Academy of Arts and Sciences. She also sits on the Advisory Board of the Chinese American Service League. In addition to her community involvement to raise funds and awareness for various causes, one of her passions is speaking to schoolchildren about the importance of pursuing their dreams.
