Ralph Hipp is a News Anchor for 13 News at 6 PM on WIBW-TV in Topeka, KS. He has anchored 13 News since 1990 (returning after moving away from Kansas for two years) and he fronts WIBW-TV features such as "Good Kids" and shows like "High Q" for Washburn University. Hipp co-anchors with Melissa Brunner at 6 PM, and with Marla Carter at 10 PM. Ralph Hipp was an early broadcast bloomer, already announcing in his early college years at WRUF-FM, the student radio station at the University of Florida in Gainesville. By the time he graduated in Broadcasting, he was already an accomplished news and sports talk show host, winning the station's coveted "Red Barber Award" from the famed sportscaster (a University of Florida alumnus) and being named WRUF-FM's top announcer. Hipp's professional TV career began at the CBS affiliate in Jacksonville, FL. He has covered or interviewed every living former president from Richard Nixon to Bill Clinton. As a sportscaster for many years, Hipp has also interviewed sports stars such as Muhammad Ali, Bear Bryant, Atlanta manager Bobby Cox, hitter Rod Carew, and pitcher Bob Gibson. An avid reader, Hipp enjoys reading biographies of famous people and visiting the presidential libraries of Truman and Eisenhower in Kansas and Missouri.
