Astronomer Carl W. Hergenrother has observed the Comet Hale-Bopp with the Steward Observatory 2.3-m telescope. He is associated with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and has also worked at the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. Mr. Hergenrother contributed to "The Comet's Tale", the newsletter of the Comet Section of the British Astronomical Association; and co-wrote "Lightcurve analysis of 4 new monolithic fast-rotation asteroids".[CR-LF][CR-LF]Working with David Jewitt and other colleagues, Mr. Hergenrother has co-discovered a number of Kuiper belt objects.[CR-LF]He also discovered two periodic comets, 168P/Hergenrother and P/2000 C1 (Hergenrother). The Asteroid 3099 Hergenrother is named after him.
