Henry Harteveldt joined Forrester in January 2000 to lead its worldwide travel industry practice. He analyzes and projects how consumer and business adoption of new technologies will impact the sale and purchase of travel services. Through both industry surveys and Technographics? research ? the largest continuous survey effort of technology behaviors in the world ? Mr. Harteveldt advises Forrester clients on both industry and consumer trends that raise challenges or present opportunities to the travel industry, so they can stay ahead of rapidly evolving needs and preferences. Mr. Harteveldt identified the industry's growing dissatisfaction with GDSs and the opportunity presented by the Internet to create an alternate distribution network: Integrated Direct Connect. Among Mr. Harteveldt's other pace-setting research was his identification of travelers' price sensitivity, the identification of nearly two in 10 online travelers as mercenary travelers ? price-focused, brand-agnostic leisure travelers ? and a new segmentation model for leisure travelers, unveiled at TravelCom 2004.
