David Broder is a national political correspondent and columnist for the Washington Post Writers Group. He covers politics, government and education.[CR-LF][CR-LF]His twice weekly column is carried by 300 newspapers. Before he joined the Post, he worked at the New York Times, The Washington Star, and Congressional Quarterly. He is a regular commentator on CNN's Inside Politics, NBC's Meet the Press, and PBS TV's Washington Week in Review. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Broder is author or co-author of several books including "The Republican Establishment: the Present and Future of the G.O.P.," and "Democracy Derailed: Initiative campaigns and the Power of Money."[CR-LF][CR-LF]He is the winner of several journalism awards including a 1973 Pulitzer Prize for distinguished commentary, and the Fourth Estate Award from the National Press Foundation in 1990. The Foundation also gave him its Distinguished Contributions to Journalism Award in 1993. Esquire magazine has said he "has few challengers as probably the most influential political journalist in the country."[CR-LF][CR-LF]Broder attended the University of Chicago studying political science.
