Ms. Basu is a columnist for The Register and covers current affairs. She also contributes to The South Florida Sun-Sentinel as a columnist. Basu previously worked for The Daily Gazette, the Associated Press, The New York Times, The International Herald-Tribune, USA Today and The Nation. She attended Brandeis University and Columbia University. She has a Bachelor's in sociology and a Master's in Journalism and political economy. She also attended Goddard-Cambridge Graduate School and earned a Master's. Basu is one of the most senior South Asian journalists in the United States and has been in her current position since 1997. In the past she has taught political economy to college and graduate students.
