ABDALHADI ALIJLA

Abdalhadi Alijla is a freelance academic, writer, and journalist based in Beirut, Lebanon.

 Abdalhadi Alijla is a researcher, writer and essayist. He is a member of the elected Executive Committee of the Global Young Academy for 2018-2019.Abdalhadi, besides being Associate Researcher, he is the Regional Manager of Varieties of Democracy Institute(Gothenburg University) for Gulf countries. In 2018, he was selected as a member of Global Young Academy, an international society of young scientists. Since April 2018, he is an associate fellow at the Post-Conflict Research Center in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was the director of Institute for Middle East Studies, Canada(IMESC) from 2014 until July 2018. He has a PhD in political studies from state university of Milan. He holds a M.A. degree in Public Policy and Governance from Zeppelin University- Friedrichshafen, Germany. During his studies, He was awarded a two years DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship. Prior to his doctoral studies, Abdalhadi was involved in political research on volunteerism at United Nations Volunteers in Bonn, Germany. In 2010, he was a visiting researcher at ICCROM in Rome, Italy. He worked as a sessional lecturer at Alazhar University- Gaza. Abdalhadi was a fellow of Soliya network for dialogue and selected as a junior scientist at the 3oth Alternative Noble Prize by Right Livelihood College. He is DAAD fellow of Public Policy and Good Governance, and a fellow of Royal Society of Art and Science, UK. He worked for many NGOS and INGOS in the Middle East and Europe. His writings appears on OpenDemocracy, Huffpost, Qantara, Your Middle East, Jaddaliya and other media outlets. In 2017, he was selected as one of the most influential on Social Media in Palestine. His main research interests are divided societies, democracy, social capital, Middle East studies, comparative politics and philosophy of religions. Abdalhadi is the author of the fourthcoming book “ Trust in Divided Societies: Society and Governance in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine” by I.B.Tauris UK.
